Waiting for the Tide
The end of the pier wasn’t the destination. It was simply where the noise finally stopped
From a distance, the pier looks like an invitation to keep walking.
Up close, it feels different.
The weather had turned. The waves were restless. The wood beneath my feet had been shaped by years of wind, salt, and storms. There was nowhere to go except the end, and nothing waiting there except the sea.
That’s what made it worth the walk.
We often think a destination has to reward us with something spectacular. Sometimes it offers something quieter—a few uninterrupted minutes with the horizon, the sound of the water, and enough space to hear your own thoughts again.
The pier didn’t lead to anything. It led away from everything else.
